Discharged
from the U.S. Marine Corps, Lieutenant Dennis Lemma serves as the
Commander of the Community Services Division, which encompasses
Public Information, Victim Services, Elder and Community Services,
Crime Prevention, the Weed and Seed Program, and Special Projects.
Lieutenant Lemma joined the Seminole County Sheriff's Office in 1992
as a detention deputy and has ascended through the ranks serving as
a patrol deputy sheriff, school resource deputy, crimes against
children investigator, sergeant and most recently as the lieutenant
assigned to command the Community Services Division where he is also
the official spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. Lieutenant Lemma
collaterally serves as the commander of the Sheriff's Office
nationally acclaimed Honor Guard team. He was recognized as the
Central Florida Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2000 by the
Brevard/Seminole County State Attorney's Office and again by the
Central Florida SpeakOut Hotline in 2001. Lieutenant Lemma holds a
BA in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College.

He gave an upbeat view of the importance of prevention programs to deter crime as an economical and effective alternative when cost cutting seems to prevail. Lt.
